Halloween Inspiration - Risky Business

Halloween Inspiration - Risky Business

Halloween Inspiration - Risky Business

Need a last minute halloween costume? I always thought going as Tom Cruise from Risky Business was a super easy, yet sexy halloween look.

I will be bartending Halloween night, and I need a costume.  I went as a bee to all of the Halloween parties this weekend, but I think I might change it up and use this idea.  It's comfortable and easy, yet I'll be showing enough skin to make some good tips.

What are you going as for halloween?

Wardrobe Basics

Wardrobe Basics

Wardrobe Basics

1. Denim Jacket: Perfect for fall or cool summer nights.  It's versatile and can go with almost any outfit.  During the summer I loved pairing a denim jacket with a maxi dress or skirt and chunky jewelry.  For the fall, I like pairing it with a simple t-shirt, black jeans and riding boots.

2. Leather Motorcycle Jacket: The leather jacket is a fall statement piece.  It can be dressed up for a night out or dressed down for school or work, it truly is a versatile piece.  Wear it over your LBD for a night out or pair it with a t-shirt, jeans, boots and some colorful jewelry.

3. Cashmere Cardigan: A staple in any work wardrobe.  Cashmere is long lasting and never goes out of style.  Pair it with some slacks or a pencil skirt for the office, and dress it down on the weekends with a pair of your favorite boyfriend jeans and flats.

4.  Blazers: Blazers ad just the right punch to any outfit.  Throw it on over a simple white t-shirt and jeans and you're good to go for the evening.  Make sure it is tailored and fits your body in all the right places.

5. Trench Coat: Investing in a trench coat is a great idea.  They are timeless pieces that add just the right level of sexiness to any outfit.  Wear it over top of a LBD for a night out or put if over your skinny jeans and cashmere sweater for a day of running errands on the weekends.

6. Black Trousers: This is a must have for any work wardrobe.  Invest in a couple great pairs such as Ann Taylor or Michael Kors for a piece that will last your for years.  Get them tailored to ensure a great fit.

7. Jeans: A great fitting pair of jeans can transform any look and make you feel amazing.  Invest in a few classic pairs to keep your wardrobe up to date.  Don't be afraid to have them tailored. If you're spending $100 or more on a pair of jeans, you want to make sure they fit your body perfectly.

8. Black Jeans: Perfect for casual Friday at the office or for plain every day wear.  They give your look an edgier feel than regular jeans and can easily be taken from day to night with a few jewelry changes.

9. Khakis: Along with black trousers, khakis are a must have. They work with almost any top and are essential for any work wardrobe.  Get them tailored along with your other office pieces to ensure a great fit and longevity.

10. Pencil Skirt: It has a very naughty librarian feel, and can make any woman look absolutely amazing.  Make sure the length and cut are right for your body type so that you don't looks disproportionate.  Pair with some killer heels and a button down top for a classy/sexy office look.  For night time, try pairing it with a chambray top and some "F Me" pumps.

11. The Little Black Dress: Every woman needs a LBD that they feel amazing in.  This piece is essential for the office, as well as for the evening.  It is simple, yet classic and easy enough to pull out of your closet and throw on when you're in a pinch.

12. Party Dress: Invest in a great party dress for girls' night out.  Make sure it's something you feel sexy in and fits your body right.  Go for a bright color that stands out so you aren't blending in with the crowd.

13. Metallic Flats: They are perfect for adding a little umph to any outfit.  They can transition from fall to summer or from day to night.  Look for silvers and golds, which always remain classics.

14. A Black Clutch: The perfect evening bag. They add a level of sophistication to an evening outfit while not taking away from the overall look.  Try to find a basic black clutch as well as something that makes more of a statement, such as neon or studs.

15. Black Heels: A must have for any look.  They are great for the office, and dress up any casual day time look.  Invest in a great pair that you'll have for years to come.  Look for leather and suede so that you can subtly change up your look.

16. Black Hobo Bag: It's an everything bag.  It has the ability to hold your entire life inside while still looking stylish.

17. Black Riding Boots: An essential for fall.  They go great with any outfit regardless of the occasion.  Pair with leggings and chambray for a day time look, or try a knee high dress for the office or night time.

18. Cowboy boots: They go amazingly well with Chambray and leggings.  They can be super casual and used to add a little excitement to an outfit, or you can dress them up for night time and go swing dance with your honey.

Shoe Dazzle

Shoe Dazzle

This week has been so stressful for me! I've been working both of my jobs non-stop and trying to stay caught up on several projects for my classes.  There just aren't enough hours in the day!

I was rushing home from my internship this afternoon so I could grab a bite to eat before my next class started when I my ShoeDazzle box waiting for me on my porch! I was so excited that these boots finally came I squealed a little bit, and my neighbor looked at me like I was crazy.

I ran inside and changed my outfit so that I could wear these beauties.  They are called the Heidi Boot and you can get them HERE.  They come in black as well but I've been dying to find a great pair of brown boots for this fall/winter.

For an invite to ShoeDazzle.com please click HERE

I paired these boots with a chambray top, leggings, and a long white tank. It started to snow ( it is really coming down now) as I was taking these pictures so I didn't get as many as I had wanted.  It figures it would snow as soon as I began to thoroughly embrace fall!

I made this the background on my phone last night.
Figures it would start to snow right afterwards!

4 Products I Can't Live Without

4 Products I Can't Live Without

I'm a bit of a beauty junkie (with a very limited budget) and I love to play around and experiment with makeup and various looks.  When it comes to a few staples in my collection, I like to stick to tried and true products and something I know I can apply in a pinch without worrying about how I look through out the day.

I decided to do a video on the 4 products that I can't live without.  I looked at this as if I lost all of my makeup except for 4 essentials, which ones would I hold onto.  I chose a tinted moisturizer because of its simplicity, my Mabelline Baby Lips lip balm because I feel it's a versatile product that does not require a lot of time to apply or fuss with, my brow pencil because no matter how little or how much makeup you have on, you always need your brows defined and filled it, and finally I chose an eyeliner because I never leave the house without some on.

I definitely can go a little crazy with makeup, but I enjoy using simple products that give a natural every day look.  These 4 products are always part of any of my makeup looks and I definitely recommend that you try these out if you haven't yet already!

Flannel!

Flannel OOTD

It's definitely getting colder outside! I decided to take advantage of the cooler weather and wear my flannel shirt.  I got this forever ago at WalMart of all places for a White Trash party! Since flannel is definitely making a comeback I thought what better day than today to wear this shirt?!

I kept it pretty simple today since I have so much going on. I just wanted something easy that I felt comfortable in and looked good.  This shirt is slightly baggy but still gives me a shape and these jeans are very comfortable.

I ordered a pair of brown boots from ShoeDazzle.com the other day and they should be here Thursday! I've been searching for the perfect pair of tan boots that are within my budget and I think I've finally found some.

Outfit Of The Day

OOTD

I love sweater dresses and this one is definitely my favorite! I picked it up a couple of weeks ago at J. Crew on sale.  It was originally $88 and I got it for $16! It has definitely been a staple in my fall wardrobe.  I paired it with tights, boots and gold jewlery.

October Birch Box

My October Birch Box

Every month I look forward to getting my Birch Box and trying out new samples and beauty products.  This month I received Willa Facial Moisturizer, a Luna Fiber Bar, Naked Princess Lip Gloss, LA Fresh Nail Polish Remove Pads, and Mary-Lou Manizer Luminizer from The Balm.

I'm most excited about my luminizing poweder from The Balm.  I've heard very good things about this product and cannot wait to try it out! I liked the lipgloss as well, generally they send me lip products that are just way to pink and this one is a happy medium between pink and nude.  The moisturizer looks promising, as do the polish removing pads.  I have a gel manicure on right now but I could definitely use them for my toes!

Overall I'm somewhat happy with this month's box.  I've been a Birch Box subscriber for about a year, and while I've had some really great products, lately I've been underwhelmed by them.  I signed up for the Glam Bag from Ipsy.com and will receive that in November. I think it will be nice to compare the two products and see which one I like best.

Like my recent OOTD? Watch me get ready and see how I did my makeup that day!
I'm definitely a drug store makeup junkie (Maybelline is my favorite), and being a college student with limited funds I shop around for products I know work best for me and are good quality.  I splurge every now and then on "high end" makeup products but generally I like to keep it simple and stick to my tried and true drug store finds.

Outfit Of The Day

OOTD

This is what I'm wearing to work tonight, so technically it's an outfit of the night, but you get the picture.

I walk around at work a lot so I need comfortable shoes! These boots that I got forever ago at Target are amazing! The look expensive, but I don't think I paid over $40 for them and they are insanely comfortable. They have definitely been a wardrobe staple for me this season!

I paired my boots with skinny jeans (they are technically jeggings), a long teal blouse and black and gold jewelry.

A PASSION For FASHION

A Passion for Fashion

To me style is not just about the clothes you wear, it's also about your attitude and how you cary yourself.  If you walk with an air of class and elegance, you can pull off practically any outfit.  Style comes in all shapes and sizes, and it is about embracing yourself and tailoring your wardrobe to fit your personality.  With the right amount of confidence and the appropriate shoes, I believe that any woman can take on the world and look amazing doing so.
